Obituary for Sandra Santos

Retired Funeral Director and Former Owner of McGowan-Reid and Santos Funeral Home

Sandra (Reid) Santos, 81, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 27, 2022, with her family by her side and with the strains of Frank Sinatra's "That's All" to ease her way.

Sandy was born July 9, 1940, to William D. and Betty (Camp) Reid in Akron and been a Cuyahoga Falls resident since 1973. Sandy was a graduate of the Akron General School of Nursing and was a dental assistant for Stow Dental Group.

Sandy was born into the Reid funeral home family, she became a licensed funeral director in 1976 and, with her husband Frank, she took over ownership of the McGowan-Reid and Santos Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls. She was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Ohio Funeral Directors Association. She was an active member and Secretary of the Summit County Funeral Directors Association and strongly felt the importance of professionals working together for the benefit of the people they served. She was an avid golfer and a member at Silver Lake Country Club participating in several of their leagues. She was a scratch bowler. She also loved to garden at both the funeral home and her own home. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Above all, family was the most important part of Sandy's life. In addition to her parents Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Frank; son Scott; grandson Frank Richard 'Rick' Santos II, and brother Jeff Reid. She is survived by her children Kevin (Roianne) Santos and children Mandi (Cliff) Cutchins, Samantha (Caitlin), Stephanie (Matt), & Sandra (Reese), Kaitlin and Jamie; and Sheri (Mark) Fleishour and children Nicole (Rick) Bennett, Blace (Bridgett), Shane, Michael (Samantha) & Stephanie Weaver; daughter-in-law Caroline Santos and children Daniel, Naomi, Bethany, and Katie; 27 great- grandchildren; siblings Mary McCarthy, Bobby (Susan) Reid; sister-in-law Barb Reid; brothers-in-law Joe (Janet) and Bill Santos.

A Mass of Chrisitan Burial was celebrated Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to Falls Cancer Club or a charity of your choice.
