We serve any family that walks in our door. We must be well versed on religion cultures, generational diversity, ethnicity trends and shifts, and underserved community inclinations. All these things when looking at the meaning of diversity are the truest form of what it means. The funeral industry although we are knowledgeable of diversity we still tend to focus on the groups or areas that “serve.” This means the neighborhood we are within, the church that we attend, the clubs that we join and those are great measures for your personal life, but is that the right way in this technical world to build a diverse and equitable funeral home.
We must meet the world where it is today. This is the time to devise plans to carry the next generation through a cremation takeover, an internet wholesale market, and other funeral providers that are profit focused. How do we diversify and close the equity gaps that await us in the future?
Attendees will develop an understanding of the diversity within the funeral profession and relate the inequities within their own practices in order to close equity gap offerings.
