Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced General Manager to oversee all aspects of cemetery operations. This leadership role is responsible for supervising staff, managing financials, ensuring compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of service in interactions with customers, clergy, funeral directors, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer & Stakeholder Relations: Supervise and directly engage with customers, Pastors, funeral directors, and other individuals involved in cemetery operations to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Staff Management: Oversee daily supervision of 13 personnel, including 4 office staff, 2 sales staff, and 7 grounds personnel. Responsible for hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, compensation, benefits, and vacation scheduling in accordance with the company policy. Ensure adherence to the Union contract for 4 grounds employees.
Operational Oversight: Coordinate administrative and operational functions, including vendor contracts, security, and sales. Monitor interment services, grounds maintenance, and equipment repairs.
Financial Management: Develop and implement an annual operating budget and capital budget subject to Board approval. Oversee financial operations including cash flow, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and debt management.
Fund Administration: Manage financial transactions and compliance for the Perpetual Care Fund and the regulated Prepaid Escrow Fund.
Procurement & Pricing: Oversee purchasing of supplies and equipment using established bidding processes. Develop and implement retail pricing strategies.
