Obituary for Edward Jervois Connors

Father of Barb Garrison, OFDA OSHA/EPA Consultant

Edward Jervois Connors was born November 6, 1931 to John J. Connors and Lillian G. Maliff. Ed graduated from Boston English High School and attended MIT before accepting an apprentice training program with General Electric. In 1960, he married Esther Green, and over the course of his career, they lived throughout the Midwest and New England before settling down in Westerville in 1969. Ed worked for GE's Industrial Diamond Manufacturing subsidiary in Worthington where he helped design and build the equipment that made the first industrial diamonds. Ed loved the water and was a member of the Hoover Sailing Club for several years until he bought a boat on Lake Erie where he lived during the summer. Ed enjoyed traveling, classical music, reading, pizza, ice cream, chocolate, Cheetos, and his daily Manhattan. Besides Esther, Ed leaves behind his daughters, Anne (Greg) Tumulty, Patti (Bob) Connors, Barb (Rick) Garrison, and Mary (Tim) Dillow; as well as grandsons, Bryan Tumulty, Scot (Emily) Tumulty, Tyler (Andress) Dillow, and Brandon Dillow. His daughters remember a laid-back father with a deep, gentle voice who taught them to water ski at Alum Creek Reservoir, took them for ice cream at Baskin Robbins, splashed around with them at the Annehurst pool, stood in the cold and rain to cheer them on at Buckeye Track Club races, pitched them countless softballs in the back yard, and never met a stranger. A private celebration of life for Ed will be held later in 2021.
