Obituary for James Flynn Mylott

JAMES FLYNN MYLOTT, age 75, passed away in his Delray Beach, Florida, home on November 29, 2017. Jim was a loving husband to Leslye (Ferstman-Nathanson), and to his late wife Judith (Gallagher) and beloved father to James (Nina), Thomas (Jeannine), Colleen Dameron-Burlinghaus (David) and Kelly Mylott. He was the devoted step-father to Avery (Jill) Nathanson, Matthew (Nicole) Nathanson, Craig (Lori) Nathanson, and Halle (Joe) Dusseau. Grandfather to 10 grandchildren, with the 11th due in May. He was oldest brother to Bob, Karen Morgan, Maura Farrell and Dennis. 

Jim was born December 5, 1941, to Robert and Dorothy (nee McCormack) in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1960, and went on to attend John Carroll University. In 1962, He elected to serve his country and joined the United States Marine Corps. Upon discharge, Jim apprenticed under his father at Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home and became co-owner and President. Professional accomplishments included serving as President of the Cuyahoga and Ohio Funeral Directors Associations.

Jim married his childhood sweetheart, Judith Gallagher, in 1965. Judy was tragically taken from this earth in 1979. Jim was fortunate to find true love twice. In 1980, he married Leslye Ferstman and they raised eight children together. In 2005 Jim and Leslye retired to Delray Beach. He was an avid reader, earned a pilot’s license, was a pleasure boat captain, model boat builder and enjoyed painting nature scenes. 

Funeral Mass and Memorial Luncheon immediately following on Saturday January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor, OH 44060. Private Interment.
