Betty L. Baker, 89 of Washington C.H., Ohio died Saturday, July 2, 2011.
Mrs. Baker was born April 6, 1922 in Madison County, Ohio to Harry and Nelle Hawkins Turvy, Sr. She was a graduate of London High School and also graduated from the Capital Beauty School in Columbus.
She was a retired beautician and formerly owned and operated the Millwood Beauty Shop.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon; London Chapter #386 of the Order of the Eastern Star; Fayette County Commission on Aging and she formerly was a volunteer with the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane C. Baker on November 26, 1988; a daughter-in-law, Jodi Baker; a sister, Mary Porter and five brothers, Theodore, Robert, Walter, James and Harry Turvy, Jr.
Mrs. Baker is survived by a son, Scott D. Baker, longtime funeral director and embalmer with Kirkpatrick Funeral Home; two grandchildren, Ashley and Seth Baker all of Washington Court House; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and JoAnn Turvy of Enon, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. with the Rev. Charlotte O’Neil, interim pastor at the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
