Obituary for William Burroughs Jones, Jr.

William Burroughs Jones, Jr., 86, of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away on November 6, 2017. He was born on May 26, 1931, in Cincinnati, OH, son of the late William Burroughs Jones, Sr. and Mayme Domenica (DiMatteo) Jones. 

After graduating from Lawrenceburg High School in 1949, Bill earned his Pharmacy degree from Butler University in 1953. Upon completion of his degree, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953-1955. Following his honorable discharge, he began working alongside his father at Jones Pharmacy, while also serving as the pharmacist at Dearborn County Hospital. Bill continued his work as a pharmacist for 42 years. 

Bill was active in the community serving on the Lawrenceburg School Board, a term as Greendale Police Commissioner, and was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.

Bill also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their many activities, playing golf and was an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan. After living in Greendale for many years, Bill retired in 1996 and he and his wife, Jane (Fitch) Jones relocated to Sun Lakes, AZ. 

Bill is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter, David (Amy) Jones of Tempe, AZ, Kim (Jeff) Stoneking of Rockwall, TX, Billy (Pam) Jones of Lorain, OH, 6 grandchildren, Alison (Brandon) Gayler of Edwardsville, IL, Andrew (Irina) Stoneking of Noblesville, IN, Katherine (Brendon) Reddy of Tempe, AZ, Rachael Jones of Tempe, AZ, Austin Jones and Cole Jones of Lorain, OH, 4 great grandchildren Elliana, Graham and Polina Stoneking and Samuel Gayler. Nieces Gail Jones of Atlanta, GA and Shannon (Brice) Sayler of Summerville, SC. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Wm. Jones and Mayme, his great aunt Esther Welling, his brother Robert L. Jones and his loving wife, Jane. 

A memorial service celebrating the lives of both Bill and Jane will be held in the Spring in Greendale, Indiana.
