Obituary for Dolores E. Bing-Zelinsky

Stepmother of Diane Shimo, Gluvna-Shimo-Funeral Chapel

Dolores E. Bing-Zelinsky, (nee Green), age 83, of Columbia Township, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday November 15, 2016 while a resident of the Thomas Perciak Residential Hospice in Strongsville, Ohio. 

Dolores served the community of Columbia Township in a multitude of ways including Supervisor of Transportation for the Columbia Local School District as well as being one of the first female Firefighter/ EMT's on the Columbia Township Fire Department. Once recognized as Firefighter of the Year, she was also one of the founders of the community's Safety Town program. 

A parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, she loved catering, gardening, and fishing in her free time. Additional interests including travel and the company of her many friends. 

Dolores was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Columbia Township VFW Post 9340 as well as the Order of the Eastern Star. 

She is survived by her husband of twenty-one years Raymond J. Zelinsky, daughter Sherril (Ken) Rundle of Medina, and son Richard Bing (fiancée Nancy Starner) of Westfield Center.  She also leaves step-daughters Brenda (Frank) Browske of North Eaton, Diane (Jeff) Shimo of Lorain, Karen (Greg) Brianas of Valley City, and Lynda Zelinsky of Columbia Township. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, three great step-grandchildren, and dear friends V.J. Dietrich, Doris Hershey, and Rachel Lambert. 

Dolores was preceded in death by her first husband Wilford Bing, by her son Randy Bing, and by her step son David A. Zelinsky in. 

Friends may call Thursday November 17th from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Jardine Funeral Home - 15822 Pearl Road in Strongsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish - 25801 Royalton Road, Columbia Township. Reverend Charles J. Ryba, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Columbia Township Cemetery.
