Obituary for Gertrude Love

Mother of John Love, mother-in-law to Mary Love and Grandmother to Heather Love-Reynolds, all of Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Homes

Gertrude M. Love, age 98, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus. She was born February 3, 1918 in Randolph, OH to the late Louis and Clara (Wise) Eichler. On August 16, 1947, she married Jack C. Love. He died August 22, 2004.

She is survived by three children: John (Mary) Love of Ottawa, OH, Thomas (Patricia) Love of Westerville, OH and Mary Jane Love of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren: Heather (Nathan) Reynolds, Robert (Emily) Love, Michael (Abby) Love and Andrew Love; five great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Alexandria and Sean Reynolds, Grayson Love and Landon Love.   Also surviving are three sisters-in-law: Delores Eichler of Atwater, OH, Rosemary Loostrom of Plymouth, MI and Sue Olmsted of Columbus, IN.; many nieces and nephews; and two special friends: Viola Lynn and Cecilia Toy. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Vincent (Marjorie) Eichler and Gilbert Eichler and four sisters: Geneva (Edward) Fargo, Agnes (Clyde) Lamert, Sister Clementine Eichler, SND and Alma (Bill) Donahue.

Gert retired as receptionist at St. James the Less Catholic Church in Columbus where she and her family were members for many years. Gert and her husband enjoyed going to the casinos in Tunica, MS. She also enjoyed embroidering doilies and pillowcases, playing cards, watching the Reds games and listing to big band music. She loved flowers, especially marigolds, geraniums and her rose bushes.

A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center, OH. with Fr. David Gwinner and Deacon Tom Barford officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville, OH 55 E. Schrock Rd, Westerville, OH and 10:30 until time of service Saturday at the cemetery chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donation to be made to American Council of the Blind, Ohio, Columbus Chapter (ACB-O, Columbus Chapter) 1088 Bernhard Road Columbus, OH  43227.
