Robert Sherman Schoedinger

OFDA received word this morning that Robert Sherman Schoedinger, age 95, of Upper Arlington died July 18, 2008 at his residence. He attended Williams College where he was a member of Phi Delta Gamma Fraternity, graduate of Cleveland College of Embalming and was the Chairman Emeritus of Schoedinger Funeral Service.

Mr. Schoedinger was preceded in death by wife Suzanne Jones Schoedinger, grandson Trey Buchsieb and brothers George R. Schoedinger, Jr. and John F. Schoedinger. Survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Thomas) Ellis and Sara (Sally) Buchsieb, grandsons, Robert, Geoffrey (Katharine), Eric (Deidre) Ellis, and Daniel Buchsieb, great- grandsons, Ian, Colin and Miles Ellis, one brother, William O. Schoedinger, friend and caregiver for past 4 years: Debi Wessling, LPN.

Life member of St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church, UCC. Past Master of Goodale Lodge #372 F.&A.M., Past High Priest of Temple Chapter #155 R.A.M., York Council #115 R.&S.M., Past Commander of Mt. Vernon Commandery #1 K.T., Past Grand Commander, Grand Commandery Knights Templar of OH, Past Thrice Potent Master of Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Crowned a 33rd degree Mason, Order of DeMolay Legion of Honor, Past Sovereign of Red Cross of Constantine, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Grotto. Past Member of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Masonic Home of Springfield, OH for 28 years (the last 4 as President). Past President of the Pauline Home for the Aged, Charter member and Past President of the Executives Club, served two terms on the Board of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Past Director of Downtown Optimist Club, and member of Columbus Athletic Club and Scioto Country Club.

Friends may call at the Schoedinger NORTHWEST Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Schoedinger MIDTOWN Chapel, 229 East State Street. Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery.
