Notification of Death - C. Robert Kelley

February 13, 2008

OFDA received word this afternoon that C. Robert "Bob" Kelley, 74, of Hubbard, died Wednesday morning, February 13, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was born November 21, 1933, in Youngstown, a son of Clyde R. and Julia A. McClenahan Kelley and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.

Mr. Kelley owned the Kelley and Son Funeral Home in Hubbard for 30 years retiring in 1989. He was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Hubbard where he served on many different committees and was a former Sunday school teacher. Bob graduated from Hubbard High School in 1951, Dennison University in 1955 and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1959. Prior to becoming a funeral director, he taught English and coached football at East Palestine High School from 1955 - 1956 and was very active in coaching many Hubbard youth sports. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 -1958 and served as a drill instructor.

Bob was a member of the Old Timers' Baseball Hall of Fame and many National, State and Local funeral directors organizations. He was recognized by the Hubbard High School Alumni Association as an Honoree in 1990, a member of the first Hubbard High School Hall of Fame inducted in 1978 and honored by many different Hubbard School and Community organizations for his contributions. He was a member of the Hello Brothers Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Northside Club and was serving as a trustee on the Hubbard Eagle Joint Fire District.

He leaves his wife, the former Sue C. Andrews, whom he married June 28, 1958; two sons, Kent R. (Karen) Kelley and Rob M. (Paula) Kelley, both of Hubbard; four grandchildren, Kristina, Kera, Amanda and Kevin Kelley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sallie Mason.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home in Hubbard.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service.
