Notification of Death - Jon C. Trainer

July 24, 2007

OFDA received word this morning that Jon C. Trainer, 38, of Mechanicsburg died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana. He was born December 10, 1968 in Springfield, Ohio the son of James H. & Judith A. (Skillman) Trainer of Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home Mechanicsburg, and Ohio.

Jon was a 1987 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and he attended the Ohio State University. Jon was a lifetime member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church and a member of the Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F. & A.M.

Following college Jon began his career in the catering business. He moved to the Cleveland area and began his food service career with executive caterers; this lead to a move to New York City as the director of operation for the restaurant association at the U.S. Tennis Center. Jon then moved to Cleveland continuing as director for the restaurant association at the Cleveland Museum of the Arts. He recently chose to move back to his hometown. He was employed with Adecco at Honda of Marysville as a manager. Wanting to give back to his community, Jon served as a volunteer fireman for the Mechanicsburg Fire Department. Jon loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew.

Jon is survived by his parents, Jim & Judi Trainer, 2 brothers, his twin, Jay D. Trainer, and Jeffery A. (Andrea) Trainer, his nieces & nephews, Emma Josephine, Sophie Rose & Augustus James Trainer; his aunts & uncles, Don K. Skillman, Robert (Jackie) Trainer & Darlene Trainer, as well as numerous cousins, relatives & friends.

A gathering of family & friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Sunday, July 29, 2007 in the Mechanicsburg High School gymnasium (enter from Parkview Road). Masonic services will be held at 1:00 PM prior to the visitation services on Sunday in the gymnasium.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 30, 2007 in the gymnasium with the Rev. Dr. Harley Roston and Rev. Dr. Tim West Chaplin of the Urbana Fire Department officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery Mutual, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church, 42 Main St. Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044 or the Jon Trainer Scholarship fund in care of the Citizen National Bank, Mechanicsburg.
