Notification of Death - Donald P. Henn

OFDA received word this afternoon that Donald P. Henn, 80, an Oak Harbor funeral director at Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home for 42 years, died in his home on January 31, 2007. He was born to John M. and Oria (Parker) Henn on June 23, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Mr. Henn served his country in the 7th infantry division of the U.S. Army during World War II and received a combat infantry badge in Okinawa. He also served in the Army of Occupation in Korea.

One of Don's greatest pleasures was spending time with his family. He had many hobbies wood carving waterfowl, radio-controlled model airplanes, boating, fishing, photography, traveling, and showing slides of his travels to organizations.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Phillis, sons Stephen (Sue), Jeffrey (Jan), and David; daughter, Julie Henn; grandsons Nathan (Leigh Ann), David (Leslie) and Donald Henn, and Matthew Powers; granddaughters Sarah (Michael) Gillespie, Emily (Nick) Porter and Sabina Henn and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, John, and his five siblings.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Oak Harbor. Visitation will be Friday from 2-9 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. The Oak Harbor Masonic Lodge F&AM #495 will conduct services Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Internment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor with military rites provided by the VFW Post #8732 and John A. Fader American Legion Post #114.

The family suggests tributes be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, VFW Scholarship Fund, or St. John's Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor .
