David R. "Bob" James

OFDA received word this afternoon that David R. "Bob" James, 78, died peacefully Sunday August 20, 2006 at home with his family by his side after a long battle with lung cancer.

Mr. James graduated from Stanton Military Academy, Virginia and then went on to the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, where he received his funeral director/embalmer's license. He then returned to James Funeral Home in Newton Falls to begin his lifelong dedication to the friends and families in the community.

Bob officially retired in 1984, but continued participating with the family business until spring of this year. He also assisted families with the purchase of headstones as a representative for Warren Marble & Granite.

On June 5, 1948, Bob married Lois I. Eckford, childhood friend and the love of his life. They shared 54 years of wedded bliss before she passed away on October 15, 2002. He is survived by a daughter, Vikki (Mike) Choleva; four sons, Dick (Nancy), Tom (Denise), Dan ( Larava) and Ron (Shari) James; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2:00 4:00 PM and from 7:00 9:00 PM Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, with Masonic services at 1:30 PM. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, August 27 at 2:30 PM at the First church of god in Newton Falls. Interment in Newton Falls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Forum Health at Home Hospice, 8747 Squires Lane N. E., Warren, Ohio 44484.
