Jerome S. "Jerry" Hromada

OFDA received word this morning that Jerome S. "Jerry" Hromada, 61, of Lorain died Friday August 18, 2006 in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a short illness. Jerry was the father of Jerome M. Hromada, funeral director, with Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel in Lorain.

He worked at US Steel, USS/Kobe and Republic Technologies in Lorain in the Roll Shop as a Roll Turner and later as an Expediter for 35 years retiring in 2001. He currently was employed as an Attendant and Driver at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel for the past 4 years.

Funeral services were held this morning in the chapel of Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Mr. Hromada is survived by his wife of 41 years Catherine E. Hromada (nee Hanko), daughter Michele Papay of Lorain, son Jerome M. Hromada of Lorain, 5 grandchildren, sister Marian Crompton of Lorain and brother Edward Hromada of Oberlin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Edward J. "Red" Hromada in 1990, mother Helen T. Hromada (nee Pasternak) in 2004 and brother William J. Hromada in 1999.
